FastNET ASP is a Rapid Application Development (RAD) framework for
producing Web applications on the Microsoft .NET platform. FastNET
ASP employs a multi-tier, separation-of-layers architecture, so that
presentation is kept independent of the data model. Non-technical
business analysts and Power users can build rich Web interface
screens using the RAD tool, and developers can program business
logic and multiple database access using Visual Studio.NET.
A Database Access Layer shields FastNET ASP from the SQL variations
of individual databases, ensuring easy connectivity to data sources.
The rich presentation features require JavaScript enabled client
browsers, i.e. supporting Dynamic HTML (DHTML), which is satisfied
by the majority of modern browsers. FastNET ASP is targeted at the
corporate market seeking fast-to-market .NET Web application
development, including rejuvenating legacy applications.
Changes to the user interface can be made at any time without
involvement from the development team, even while the system is live
and being used. The dynamic rendering of forms also allows the user
interface to be driven by key data, such as status code changes,
providing the user with simplified screens for the specific point in
the application workflow.
Top Is FastNET
ASP a code generator? No. FastNET ASP provides a
set of Base Objects that allow programmers to build new Business
Objects with just a few simple over-rides to connect to the relevant
DataSets. FastNET ASP will then generate default forms for
the new Business Object which can then be customised by
non-programmers at any stage without the need for recompilation
or involvement from the development team. A fully functioning
application with world class features can literally be created in
just 6 simple steps.

What language is FastNET ASP written in?
FastNET ASP is written in Microsoft C# The
development team can however extend Business Object functionality
using their favourite .NET languages to incorporate any special
business processes. The User Interface will automatically become
aware of the new features and the new options can be added to forms
where relevant to the end user.

Can I still use Visual Studio?
FastNET ASP is fully compatible with Microsoft Visual Studio and
does not attempt to provide its own proprietary development
environment. All of the tools, components and technologies available
to today's .NET developers can still be utilised by FastNET ASP
developers.

Does FastNET ASP require client
downloads? No. FastNET ASP is a true Zero Footprint
Browser solution that is not dependant on downloadable components or
applets. Applications developed with FastNET ASP can therefore be
accessed immediately by any supported browser.

What type of applications can I write with FastNET ASP?
FastNET ASP has been designed to enable the rapid creation of
Business Information Systems with a high degree of file maintenance,
enquiry, filtering and on-line reporting functionality. Typical
applications include Support and Help Desk Solutions, Patient
Information Systems, Purchase Order Management and Workforce
Scheduling. FastNET ASP is also the ideal solution
for rapidly converting legacy applications for the Web. Within
minutes your old client server applications and legacy solutions can
be transformed to take advantage of the full rich web user
interface provided by FastNET ASP.

What databases can I use with FastNET ASP?
FastNET ASP uses Microsoft SQL Server to store the user interface
form definitions and parameters. The final application database can
be hosted by alternative technologies such as Progress RDMS, SQL
Anywhere and ODBC databases such as Microsoft Access.
The FastNET System architecture includes a separate database layer
to allow new databases to be supported as required. The FastNET ASP
Base Objects will generate all of the necessary SQL statements
for your application taking into account the capabilities of the
target database.
Each FastNET ASP user interface form can include
data from multiple databases providing a great way of
integrating discrete systems and providing the user with data in one
totally consistent and easy to use environment.

How quickly can I build
an application? Basic file maintenance, enquiry,
reporting and filtering is available in all of your applications as
soon as you start using FastNET ASP. Applications can literally be
produced in days and old legacy applications can be transformed in
hours and minutes. Don't take our word for it - tell us about a
suitable
Pilot Project and put us to the test.
